Meshugga Klezmer Band at South on Main

We're excited to begin our second month of Sessions at South on Main! This month we've invited DGold to curate Wednesday night shows. Daniel Gold, aka DGold, is a radio personality, a podcaster, a music documentarian and former publisher of a music magazine – Honest Tunes. He’s traveled the US following music, and has always made it his priority to share good tunes with others.

For his final show, DGold has invited the Meshugga Klezmer Band. Perhaps the only Klezmer band in Arkansas, this act will raise your spirits and make you want to dance. Gold says, “Their style is European Jewish melodies … It’s definitely fun, part celebration as well as some more serious melodies.”

The show begins at 8:30 PM, and there is a $10 cover charge. Please call (501) 244-9660 to reserve your table for this show.

Meshugga Klezmer band was formed in Little Rock in 1999. We have been Arkansas’ only klezmer band since. Klezmer music has eastern European Jewish folk roots and is characterized by the cantorial, vocal, emotional style reminiscent of Jewish prayer. Like the cantor, the lead musicians sob, laugh, growl, and slide from note to note. Meshugga Klezmer Band has performed with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, at local festivals, lounges, and private parties.
