The Jewish Federation of Arkansas is committed to assisting individuals desiring Jewish educational opportunities.
Education: The JFAR offers partial scholarships for Arkansas residents to participate in Jewish educational programs. We will help with subsidies needed to participate in a Jewish educational opportunity. Camp is excluded from this category (see below).
The JFAR does not pay past due tuition bills. Awards will be determined on a need basis and discussion of the scholarship committee are strictly confidential.
Some Israel trips are considered educational. In addition, birthright israel is a national program to send young adults to Israel who have never been, for free. Visit their website at www.israelexperience.org.
Camps: In cooperation with the Jewish Children's Region Service (JCRS), the JFAR provides partial scholarships for Jewish children to attend Jewish, not-for-profit camps. Eligibility for scholarships is based primarily on financial need and families who apply for scholarship must provide financial information. Scholarships are available for children ages nine (9) through sixteen (16). The amount awarded is based on the agency's budget, the number of campers requesting aid, an individual family's resources, and special circumstances. Applications must be submitted to JFAR NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 15 for submission to JCRS.
Other:
Special situations will be considered on a case-by-case basis under the Case Committee for Family Services.
How to apply:
Contact the Federation office at (501) 663-3571 for an application for any of the above-mentioned scholarships. A committee of three people makes confidential determinations. All information is treated with the utmost discretion.
