Introducing JFAR's Social Worker Cindy Brown
In accordance with the recommendations of JFAR's 2014 Needs Assessment of the Aging Jewish Population in Arkansas, Jewish Federation created a position for a social worker to begin a Caregiving and Aging program and to serve the general population across Arkansas as needs arrive.
About Cindy: I am passionately dedicated to helping people create the most positive and purposeful aging experience possible. I bring a lifetime of business and practical experience to this new role.
While in my previous career at Xerox, I returned to school to earn an MBA, MSW, LCSW, and an MA in Gerontology. I raised a daughter with Asperger’s (high functioning autism) and worked as a therapist in the evenings with families with children, teens, and young adults who have developmental disabilities.
Later I went on to become a gerontologist working to personalize and improve the quality of care of people living in nursing homes by teaching staff and caregivers to use reminiscence therapy to improve the daily routines of patients.
Every member of our community is dear and special and I look for ways to honor and serve them in difficult and joyful times alike.
