Weekly Update from the Office

What's Happened:  4 Highlights

JFAR helped to send Jewish community member Michelle Malashock as well as Polly Greenbaum from our office to theJewish Federation of North America's General Assembly in November.  Michelle and Polly have both provided thoughtful and informative reports on their experiences and what they learned. Click here to read Polly's report on the GA.  Click here to read Michelle's.

The agenda is now set for the meeting JFAR is sponsoring on Sunday on behalf of Temples Anshe Emeth and Meir Chayim as they prepare for their closings in the spring.  Thanks to all who are attending and participating and especially to Noah Levine from the Jewish Community Legacy Project for coming to town to be there.  I'm especially excited to have four different Jewish archives represented in our panel discussion on dealing with archival materials.

Materials have gone out for JFAR's Board Meeting this Monday, December 14th, at 7:00 pm, at Congregation Agudath Achim

I participated in a very valuable and informative, albeit sobering conference call this week on Mainline Protestant Churches and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict; the call was sponsored by the Jewish Federations of North American and its Israel Action Network.  The speaker was Dr. Ken Goldstein, Professor of Political Science at the University of San Francisco.  If you want more information on what was discussed, including strategies for confronting BDS, please let me know

What's Happening:  4 Highlights

A reminder that our national PJ Library Program Director Cynthia Mann is in town on Monday and Tuesday to speak to our board, meet with Congregation Agudath Achim and B'nai Israel Sisterhood members, and hear from PJ parents.  Interested in the full line-up of events with Cynthia and how you can participate (if you're not already)?   Please let me know.

Thank you to all the Arkansas Jewish congregational and organizational representatives for getting back to me so quickly regarding your interest in the special Life and Legacy program that the Jewish Federations of North America is sponsoring with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.  I so much appreciate your thoughtful questions and responses.  I will be working on completing the application and will let those of you who are interested in participating know when that application is completed and submitted.

Thanks to all of you who have donated so far to JFAR's Our House Christmas Eve Dinner Project, which is being chaired this year byJFAR Vice-President Silvana Berlinski.  If you would like to donate to the Christmas project, please click here.  (FYI the dinner is on Christmas Eve this year because Christmas falls on Shabbat).

A reminder that you only have until the end of December to take advantage of the special offer from Mark Krain and the Little Rock Athletic Club to get healthy and support JFAR.  Click here for more information.
