Please note an important correction (in red) to the first item on the list:
I have sent information out to all Arkansas congregations and Jewish organizations about the possibility of participating with JFAR in a special program, sponsored by the Jewish Federations of North America especially for Small Federations, and in partnership with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation Life and Legacy Program, which aims to help Jewish Federations, along with local Jewish organizations and congregations, secure legacy/planned gifts for the future. More information will follow for our board members via e-mail and at our December 14th meeting.
We had a great (rescheduled) last formal session of theCommitment to Community Program with a fascinating and informative presentation on planned giving by Heather Larkin of the Arkansas Community Foundation.
JFAR's newly formed Board Development Committee is already meeting and working hard on brainstorming and developing ideas to improve the board experience and strengthen board knowledge and involvement. Thanks to the committee members and committee chair Silvana Berlinski.
Thanks to the Little Rock community rabbis for taking time this week to meet and for their thoughtful consideration of our joint Yom Hashoah and Yom Ha'Atzmaut events. While the rabbis and I will continue to lead the planning of Yom Hashoah, we would like a volunteer committee to chair plans for Yom Ha'Atzmaut (Israel Independence Day). If you are interested in planning for JFAR's Yom Ha'Atzmaut celebration, please let me know.
