Crain-Maling Center for Jewish Culture at Hendrix College

2010 Events                                                       Judaism and the South

In honor of the Center's move to its own place on campus in Hendrix's new Student Life and Technology Center, we will highlight the place of Judaism in the South. We will focus primarily primarily on Judaism in the American South, but we will examine as well Judaism in the South conceived more broadly, for instance in South America, South Africa, and South Asia.

Jewish Learning:

NEW THIS YEAR! Jewish learning events are intended largely for our non-Jewish audience to learn more about various aspects of Judaism but they are also aimed at Jewish students, faculty, and community members who want to learn more about their religion and identity.

On-campus Activities:

Hillel First Friday Dinner and Discussion

Shabbat (Sabbath) dinner with an invited guest, usually from the Jewish community, who will lead a discussion related to the Center's annual theme.

Crain-Maling Center of Jewish Culture Odyssey Projects

Odyssey Projects are experiential learning projects required of every student at Hendrix. The Crain-Maling Center of Jewish Culture offer funding for Odyssey projects that relate to its mission or its annual theme.

All events, unless otherwise noted, are free and open to the public and will take place on the Hendrix College Campus.

For more information on these and other activities, please visit our website: www.hendrix.edu/jewishculturalcenter.

Jewish community members are encouraged to RSVP beforehand to tettlebaum@hendrix.edu, or by calling (501) 450-4598.
